Kogi gets new deputy governor

Edward Onoja has been sworn-in as the new deputy governor of Kogi State.

Mr Onoja, the running mate of Governor Yahaya Bello who is seeking re-election for another term in office, took the oath of office on Monday.

The Kogi State House of Assembly had last week removed Simon Achuba from the position. This is despite been vindicated by the report of a panel constituted to probe him of alleged misconduct.

The oath of office was administered to the new deputy governor by Justice Nasiru Ajanah, the Chief Judge of the State.

Onoja was the former Chief of Staff to the governor but later resigned after emerging  the running mate to his principal in November 16 governorship election.

A graduate of Geology from the University of Jos, Onoja was veered into the banking industry where he rose to the position of branch manager at Guaranty Trust Bank, before he went into active politics.

He contested into the state House of Assembly in 2011 under ANPP and lost before being appointed as Governor Bello’s campaign manager in the 2015 governorship election.

He is from Ogugu district of Olamaboro Local Government Area of the state.
