Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) has threatened that his group will retaliate any harassment meted out to any of its members.
Mr Kanu, a fugitive, stated this in reaction to the warning issued by Ene Okon, the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, regarding the burial of the parents of the secessionist leader.
The IPOB leader had lost his parents last year with the burial scheduled to take place on Friday, February 14. The deceased were community leaders in Abia State and preparations are on high gear to lay them to rest.
The police in Abia had warned members of the proscribed group to stay away from the burial ground or risk been dealt with, an advice they are likely not adhere to.
Threatening Mr Okon, the IPOB leader said his group will retaliate any dead of its members recorded during the burial.
Kanu who had recently alert his members over plots to humiliate them during the event, said the police boss and his men will definitely pay with the lives of their children should any harm befalls any IPOB member.
“If Inspector Okon and his commanders come to my father’s house to kill anyone on 14th February 2020 at my parents’ burial, we will hunt down their children,” the secessionist said in a Facebook post wherein he attached the photograph of Mr Okon.
Speculations are rife that the secessionist leader who jumped bail in 2017 when tried for treason, might return to bury his parents but this has not been independently verified by TODAY POLITICS.
