Insecurity: If you can’t pay ransom, pay informants, Shehu Sani tells Buhari

Shehu Sani, a former senator representing Kaduna Central at the 8th Senate, has advised President Muhammadu Buhari to pay informants since he has vowed not to pay ransom.

Mr Buhari and officials of his administration have repeatedly vowed not to negotiate with bandits terrorising residents in Northern Nigeria.

The president also warned state governors in the region negotiating and rewarding criminals to desist as it could one day backfire with dire consequences.

For the former lawmaker, there are two options left for the president to choose from – to negotiate and pay ransom to secure release of captives or pay informants to infiltrate the camps of the enemies. Mr Sani said since the government has refused to choose the former, it should go with the latter.

He said infiltrating the camp of the criminals is lasting solution to banditry.

“If the Government does not want to negotiate with the Bandits or pay Ransoms to them,it MUST device ways of engaging and paying Informants from among them.Infiltration is the key,” the former lawmaker said on Tuesday afternoon on Twitter.
