I’ll teach unknown gunmen what I learnt during civil war, Buhari boasts

President Muhammadu Buhari says he will teach unknown gunmen destroying state infrastructure what he learnt during the civil war.

Mr Buhari, who has severally been talking tough since he took over power with insecurity continuing to worsen under him, boasted after a meeting with Mahmood Yakubu, the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday.

Mr Yakubu visited the presidential villa, Abuja to update the Nigerian leader on attacks on the commission’s facilities across the nation, particularly that of the South-East geo-political zone.

The attacks are often attributed to gunmen whose sponsors are yet unknown even though operatives of Eastern Security Network (ESN), a militia arm of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), have repeatedly pushed back attempts to implicate them.

“There must be zero tolerance for all those those bent on destroying our country by promoting crime and insurrection!” Buhari said on Twitter.

“Many of those misbehaving today are too young to be aware of the destruction and loss of lives that occurred during the Nigerian Civil War. Those of us in the fields for 30 months, who went through the war, will treat them in the language they understand,” he added.
