Yoruba agitator, Sunday Adeyemo, has been remanded in prison by the Cour De’appal De Cotonou, Benin Republic, on Monday.
Before now, Mr Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, picked up last week alongside his wife, Rapo, en route Germany, was detained at the Brigade Criminelle in Cotonou.
The Nigerian government, since his arrest, has been demanding for his extradition, alleging he is a gun runner and a seccessionist who has been championing the breakaway of present-day South-West geo-political zone.
Mrs Igboho, released by the court on Thursday, accompanied her husband to the court which ordered that he be henceforth remanded in prison pending the outcome of investigations into allegations levelled against him by the Nigerian government.
The court, after sitting for eight hours which ended at midnight, rejected the bail application of the activist but granted him access to medical care.
About six lawyers reportedly represented the Nigerian government seeking his extradition back to the country.
