Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, has reportedly fled from unknown gunmen who came for him at his Soka residence, Ibadan, in Oyo state.
Mr Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, made headlines when he ordered problematic herders in the South-West geo-political zone to leave the region.
He thereafter began campaigning for the actualization of Oduduwa Republic, threatening to eliminate any Yoruba politician who will sabotage the struggle.
The latest attack which occurred early Monday morning at about 2am, according to his spokesman, Koiki Olayomi, was at his Soka residence in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.
This is coming three months after the same building was set ablaze by unknown hoodlums in January.
In a live broadcast on Facebook, Mr Olayomi described the attackers as enemies of progress and indicted the federal government led by President Muhammadu Buhari.
“There is nothing more than the federal government of Nigeria that have again done the best of what they know to do best, threatening, trying to kill, kidnap, and that is what has happened in the residence of Chief Sunday Igboho’s house,” he said. “Just before 2 o’clock in the morning, there was a couple of gunshots. When I say couple of them, it’s quite a lot of them.”
He maintained that Mr Igboho and his family members are safe and appealed to the Yoruba people to prepare for the worst as it is time to go to war.
“If they do not want us to stay and settle this amicably, then every Yoruba sons and daughters at home, go and prepare because it is time for war,” he threatened, adding that, “we will shut down the whole South-West and let them know that we are not those that they think we are.”
Although TODAY POLITICS could not ascertain the involvement of the Buhari administration in the latest incident, previous attempt by security agencies to arrest the activist in February failed.
