I had always wanted to be minister – Keyamo says while beginning new duty

Festus Keyamo, the new Minister of State, for Niger Delta, has said he had being looking forward to work as a minister.

Mr Keyamo, a legal practitioner, was the director of strategic communications to the re-election campaign organisation of President Muhammadu Buhari.

There were high hope during the nomination and confirmation of the legal practitioner that he will take over from the current Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, who has been returned to continue in the same portfolio.

Portfolios were assigned to the new ministers yesterday by Mr Buhari after they took oath of office.

Keyamo who hinted that he began his new duty with a motivational action to lead by exemplary, said he had long wanted to be a minister.

“Arrived my new office punctually this morning, which is key to motivate the workforce,” the lawyer said in a tweet on Thursday.

“It is a new challenge which I always wanted to experience. Whilst my law offices continue to run at full throttle with capable hands, I take this short leave of absence to serve my fatherland,” he added.

He is to work with Godswill Akpabio, the incumbent Minister of Niger Delta, in discharging his duties.
