A member of the RevolutionNow Movement had his hair shaved with a broken bottle and a knife during while protesting against bad governance in Lagos State.
Members of the advocacy group tropped out today to demonstrate against rising insecurity among other disturbing national issues. Some of them arrested nationwide by security operatives for allegdly flouting COVID-19 protocols have been released.
The victim while narrating his ordeal to Sahara Reporters, said he was asked to prostrate on the floor before being manhandled by two security operatives, who queried why his hair was brown despite being a male.
He told the news medium that after prostrating on the floor, one of them pulled out a knife while another used a broken bottle to cut off his dreadlocks and shaved his hair.
Another victim, Damilare Adenola, narrated his own ordeal, showcasing bruises inflicted on him by security agencies.
“I was beaten by more than four soldiers and policemen. They slapped me several times and kicked me with boots. They also collected my phone and did not return it to me,” Adenola said.
“It is unfortunate that this government does not accommodate civic space. There is no freedom of speech in Nigeria again,” he added.
