Barely twenty-four hours after emerging the factional presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) Jude Ezenwafor, has withdrawn from the race.
Mr Ezenwafor attributed his withdrawal to personal reasons in a letter he wrote to the chairman of the factionalised opposition party and copied to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
“I hereby withdraw from the forthcoming Presidential Election in 2023. After consulting my supporters nationwide, I decided to withdraw for personal reasons,” the politician wrote. “I regret any inconvenience my withdrawal might cost our great party. I thank the leadership of our great party for giving me the opportunity to serve Nigeria.”
The development is coming moments after reports said the electoral body recognised another faction which produced Peter Obi, a former Anambra governor, as its flag bearer.
