Hon. Chima Obieze, A Good Disciple Of Governor Ugwuanyi

An American President, Franklin D. Roosevelt said “the future lies with those wise political leaders who realize that the great public is interested in government than in politics.” The member representing Ezeagu constituency in Enugu State House of Assembly, Hon. Barr Chima Obieze by his actions, has qualified as one of the politicians the former American President called “wise political leaders.

On the 17th of April, 2019, Hon. Obieze, true to his character, fulfilled the promise he made during his  reelection campaign when he stormed Enugu State University of Technology, ESUT to offer scholarship to one of his constituents at a time when most politicians in the country are hibernating having spent fortunes in prosecuting their elections.

Barr Obieze during the event which took place in the conference room of the Vice Chancellor said “a young lady like this who is so determined to get good education not minding her physical and financial status shouldn’t be left to suffer.

“Following the footstep of our amiable, kindhearted Governor who has thought us to service to humanity is the highest form of serving God, I took it upon myself to ensure that this young lady gets a quality education at no cost. I will see to her education all through her stay in the university” Hon. Obieze concluded.

The beneficiary, Miss Chinwatalu Charity, a first year student of accountancy in the institution hails from Mgbagbu Owa in Ezeagu Local Government Area of Enugu State. Reacting to the gesture from Obieze, Miss Charity, who couldn’t hide her joy and excitement, said, “She is very grateful and Hon. Chima Obieze has really shown her she can be useful in life and become like her mates.”

She prayed to God to bless him and replenish his pocket and promised not to let him down and concentrate on her studies.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Anike Okechukwu Luke applauded the gesture and called on not just political leaders but also well to do people In the society to borrow a leaf from what Hon. Barr obieze just did today. He urged Barr. Obieze, who was a product of the institution and also served as the Student Union President to continue to help the downtrodden in the society as he has been doing over the years.
