Finally, PDP Unseats APC, Wins Adamawa Guber Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has finally emerged victorious in the just concluded governorship election in Adamawa State.

This is despite the election which started on March 9 being declared inconclusive by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and a supplementary election was scheduled.

Umaru Fintiri, candidate of the PDP was leading during the first exercise. At the concluding part of the election on Thursday, his major challenger, Mohammed Bindow, the incumbent governor who sought re-election on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) failed to realise his quest for a second term in office.

According to INEC, Mr Fintiri polled a total of 376,552 votes in the two elections to defeat Mr Bindow who trailed behind with a total of 336,386 votes from the both exercise.

The state is where the 2019 presidential candidate of the PDP, Atiku Abubakar, hails from. Mr Abubakar lost his long-desired political ambition to President Muhammadu Buhari who trounced him with over 4 million votes nationwide.
