Newest All Progressive Congress (APC) member, Femi Fani-Kayode, has began praising President Muhammadu Buhari whom he has severally lambasted for over six years ago.
Mr Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, on Thursday returned to the ruling party he once described as Satanic for attempting to field Muslim-Muslim presidential candidate during the 2015 general election.
To protest against the alleged move to pair President Muhammadu Buhari with Bola Tinubu who are both Muslims, the talksome politician left the then opposition party and returned to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from where he had joined the APC that latter field Yemi Osinbajo as the president’s running mate.
On his return to the PDP, he became one of the spokesperson of the former president Goodluck Jonathan campaign train which lost to the now ruling party which he rejoined yesterday.
Before rejoining the APC, the former minister had denied severally of nursing such move and in one of his rebuttal tweets in 2019 vowed to rather die than returned to the “rat-infested sinking ship like the Almajiri Peoples Congress (APC).”
In another tweet, he noted that he was committed to opposing the APC and those that are in their ranks “for the rest of my natural life and I will NEVER join them no matter what! They are nothing but darkness whilst l stand for the light of God and truth: there can be NO fellowship between light and darkness.”
But appearing on Channels Television Thursday evening, Mr Fani-Kayode who initially described the president as turning deaf ears to issues that cut across national interests as one with receptive ears.
“With his receptive ears, his reception, and those around him; I have seen that definitely this is a man that one can work with provided you go through the right channels,” he acclaimed. “A man that I believe would not listen to anybody else in the past, I was quite wrong on that.”
He urged Nigerians to be more concerned on building the country rather than his past remarks about the Nigerian leader.
“I am not saying Mr President is an angel and I am certainly not saying he is a demon; I am saying he is a man like every other man.
“Let’s not focus on what FFK has done or said. Let’s focus on building our country, bridges to ensure that we don’t turn on one another as a people and end up having a civil war,” he added.
He also refuted claims that he defected to the APC for financial reasons.
“I don’t expect that kind of ridiculous and absurd question from you, okay? I have never lacked for finances (sic). There are no financial inducements. Politicians don’t move because of finances. If I had wanted to move because of finances, I would have done that a long time ago.”
