Timi Frank, a former spokesman of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) has accused the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari of monetizing the Coronavirus disease situation in the country.
Mr Frank made the accusation on Wednesday while reacting to the recent move by the federal government to withdraw $15million from the Sovereign Wealth Fund for the fight against the pandemic disease in the country.
The demand by the Federal Government came after President Muhammadu Buhari recently approved the disbursement of N15billion for the same purpose.
But in his reaction, Frank accused some government officials of turning the situation to a profit making business and alleged that the daily allowance for each member of the presidential taskforce team is N500, 000.
“COVID-19 now profit making for federal Gov’t. That’s why they want to withdraw 150million dollars to share from our sovereign wealth fund,” he alleged in series of tweets on Twitter.
“Each seating allowance for every member of the presidential taskforce committee is 500k daily. This is same Govt that claim they’re broke.
“While other World Leaders are Volunteering to put efforts in saving their Nation. Certain persons in the Nigeria Govt. are monetizing the situation.This is the same Govt that claims they dont have money.
“May God not allow Corruption kill Nigerians in this @MBuhari Govt.” he added on the micro-blogging site.
President Buhari last month inaugurated a 12-member task force headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha.
The team which has a lifespan of 6 months has Sani Aliyu as the National Coordinator of the team while other members includes: Minister of Health, Prof Osagie Ehanire; Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola; Minister of Aviation, Mr Hadi Sirika; Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Services, Sadiya Umar-Farouk; Minister of Education, Mr Adamu Adamu; Minister of Environment, Mr Mohammed Mahmoud; Director-General, Department of State Services, Mr Yusuf Bichi; Director-General, Nigeria Centre for Disease Control; Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu; and World Health Organisation Country Representative.
