Evidence of Atiku’s witnesses show election result not transmitted electronically – Tribunal

The Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) has dismissed the application of Atiku Abubakar, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), that election results were transmitted electronically.

The former vice president popularly known as Atiku had approached the tribunal claiming results from the server of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed he won the presidential election held February 23.

But delivering judgement Wednesday, the presiding judge, Justice Mohammed Garba, dismissed the application, saying the electoral body has already said they do not own a server.

Mr Garba also said witnesses, who are officers of the electoral commission, called by the petitioners could not attest that they transmitted the results of the exercise electronically, having been unable to present login credentials required for transmission of the results.
