Election Tribunal: You Will Fail – Lagos Monarch Tells Atiku

Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the last general election has been told that he will fail to realize his ambition through the the court.

This is coming from the Oba of Lagos, Rilwan Akiolu.

Mr Abubakar who strived for the exalted office in the land was the major challenger of President Muhammadu Buhari who sought a second term on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC).

The former vice president and his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), are currently at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal to upturn the outcome of the exercise while relying on results claimed to have obtained from electronic servers of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Addressing his audience when he played host to participants of the Senior Executive Course 41 of the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, the monarch said the PDP candidate will not succeed in his attempt to overthrow the president through the court.

“If anyone of you here is close to Atiku, tell him he can never succeed in what he is doing now,” Akiolu said on Wednesday.

“Buhari will complete his term in office, but Buhari too has to listen to the people, pray to God and be honest in what he is doing,” he added.

The Oba also lambasted former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, who supported the former vice president who served during his democratic reign as the leader of the country.

He described Mr Obasanjo is the arrowhead creating unwelcome or harmful situations in the country.

“I had said that Buhari would win even before the election. Unfortunately, the number one person creating problems in this country is former president Obasanjo,” the monarch said.

“He arrogated to himself the powers of the Almighty Allah by saying it was the support he gave to Buhari that made him win the first term.

“Obasanjo said Buhari would not win the second term, but did Buhari not win? Did I not say Obasanjo will be disappointed by the time the results were announced?” he queried, adding that the president’s victory clearly shows power belongs to God only and no man can decide who leads the country.
