Edo APC ward denies lifting Oshiomhole’s suspension

Oshawo Stephen, the chairman of Etsako West Ward 10, which suspended Adams Oshiomhole, the national chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has denied lifting the suspension.

Documents circulating online suggests that suspension of the embattled former governor of Edo State has been lifted. The said decision which had the nod of 16 signatories on it however did not bear that of Mr Stephen and the ward auditor.

But in a statement, the ward chairman said the national chairman of the ruling party remains suspended. He described the documents circulating online as fake.

“The suspension of Comrade Adams Oshiomhole by the ward executives remains valid. The statements to the contrary in the media are false and should be disregarded,” Mr Stephen said.

“We stand by our decision and have no reservation on the action as it is in the best interest of the party.

“The ward executives as well as our counterparts at the Etsako West Local Government level stand by the suspension of Comrade Oshiomhole for his divisive role in the crisis rocking the APC in Edo State,” he added.

Mr Oshiomhole, who is currently out of office, had his suspension upheld by the Appeal Court after a Federal High Court gave legal backings to the decision of the ward.

Who to replace him has led to several individuals of the party lying claim to the position, securing different court orders to buttress their claims.
