DSS denies attempt to arrest Sunday Igboho

The State Security Service has denied attempting to arrest Sunday Adeyemo, popular Yoruba activist.

In a video clip circulating on social media, Mr Adeyemo widely known as Sunday Igboho was seen alongside youths resisting arrest.

TODAY POLITICS saw the activist shirtless in the incident said to have occurred alongside Ibadan/Lagos expressway.

But in a Friday statement, the self-styled Department of State Services (DSS) denied its men attempted to arrest Igboho who recently made headlines when he ordered problematic pastoralists to vacate forests reserves in the South-West geo-political zone.

Peter Afunanya, spokesman of the secret police described the report as fake news which should be disregarded.

“The Department of State Services wishes to refute the news that it attempted to arrest one Sunday Igboho, today, at Ibadan, Oyo State,” Mr Afunanya said.

The said news is misinforming and should be taken as fake and therefore be disregarded,” he added.
