Duoye Diri, the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 16 governorship election in Bayelsa State has been sworn-in.
The oath of office was administered to Mr Diri on Friday. He had earlier received his certificate of return at the national headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
This comes a day after the Supreme Court sacked David Lyon, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and nullified the votes he got during the exercise.
Mr Lyon was oust over the false documents submitted to the electoral body by his deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremienyo, since the duo ran the election on joint ticket.
Mr Diri is the successor of Henry Dickson whose tenure ended Friday night.
