DIA invites ex-naval officer over anti-Buhari interview on Channels TV

Kunle Olawunmi, a former Nigerian Navy Commodore, has been invited by the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), the military’s intelligence agency in the country.

Mr Olawunmi had on Wednesday granted an interview on Channels Television where he alleged that top officials of the President Muhammadu Buhari administration were the sponsors of Boko Haram terrorists.

Recalling that while in service, he interrogated a high ranking member of the Buhari presidency, the former intelligence chief said present state governors and Senators were also backing the terror group fighting to Islamize the nation.

Quoting a top source in the DIA, Sahara Reporters said Mr Olawunmi was told to come with his international passport which may be seized.

“The agency has declared retired Navy Commodore Kunle Olawunmi wanted for spilling the beans over Boko Haram sponsors in the Buhari regime,” the medium quoted. “They asked him to come with his international passport on Tuesday to the DIA office in Abuja.”

The development comes a day after the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) queried the broadcast station to explain why it should not be penalized for granting an interview to a state governor critical of the president.
