Despite apologising and INEC refutal, Tinubu insists PVCs have expiry dates

Bola Tinubu, presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has insisted that the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) all have expiry dates.

This is despite apologising in January after first making the claim that was refuted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He had told a group of the party’s women leaders in Abuja earlier in the year that their PVCs have all expired and there was need for them to revalidate it.

After Chief Technical Adviser to the Chairman of INEC, Bolade Eyinla, debunked the claims, saying, “This information is not correct. The PVC issued to all previously registered voters remains valid,” the former governor apologised through his aide, Tunde Rahman.

However, despite INEC’s refutal and Mr Tinubu’s apology, the former governor aspiring to be Nigeria’s president has remained adamant in his claim.

“If you have no PVC, if you have no revalidation of that PVC, you don’t know whether it has expired,” he said on Saturday while addressing his supporters in Onikan, Lagos. “Don’t forget that there is an expiry date on even your cash. So go and revalidate your card.”
