Deposed Kano Emir leaves exile home for Abuja

The deposed Emir of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, has left his exile home in Awe village of Nassarawa State for Abuja, the nation’s capital.

Mr Sanusi was dethroned on Monday over insubordination and for publicly criticising the administration of Umar Ganduje, governor of Kano State.

After he was dethroned, the former Central Bank Governor was whisked away to Awe to begin his exile said to be in line with the tradition of Kano Emirate Council.

Departing his exile home at about 2pm, Sanusi left with Nasir El-rufai, governor of Kaduna State who visited the deposed monarch earlier on Friday.

Mr El-rufai had appointed the ousted traditional ruler, said to be his long time associate, into several positions in the state after the latter was dethroned.

According to The Nation Newspapers, the duo are heading to the nation’s capital after Justice Anwuli Chikere of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday ordered his release from alleged illegal detention.
