Defection: Fani-Kayode lied, owes me an apology: Gov. Umahi

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi State says former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode lied against him while rejoining the All Progressive Congress (APC) on Thursday.

Mr Fani-Kayode while returning to the ruling party yesterday claimed to have facilitated the defections of three state governors from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC.

He listed Dave Umahi (Ebonyi); Ben Ayade (Cross River) and Bello Metawalle (Zamfara) as the governors he pushed to the ruling party after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa.

But refuting the claim of the former minister, Mr Umahi on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily on Friday demanded an apology from the former critic of the president.

“For someone to come and say that a whole Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum, that he was instrumental to my movement from PDP to APC is an insult on my person and with all due respect, he has to withdraw that statement,” Umahi demanded, adding that: “He remains my friend and a good one for that matter, but he played no role in my movement and I am sure he didn’t play any role in the movement of the rest of us.”
