COVID-19: No plan to provide 2 months free electricity – FG

The Federal Government has denied planning to provide free electricity for two months as one of its measures to ameliorate the sufferings of Nigerians as the country battles the spread of Coronavirus disease.

Electricity Distribution Companies (DisCos) in the country had reportedly announced their decision to align with the recommendation of the National Assembly which called for the provision of free electricity to alleviate the sufferings of Nigerians.

Although association further promised to make public the details of how it intends to implement the new decision, the Federal Government through the Ministry of Power is indifferent.

Please Note: NO DECISION has been taken by the Federal Government to provide Nigerians with FREE ELECTRICITY for 2 months,” the ministry announced on Twitter Friday Morning.

“If and when that becomes a reality, it shall be announced officially. Be rest assured that FG is exploring ways to ameliorate any hardship on Nigerians,” it added.
