COVID-19: FG lifts ban on religious gatherings, shifts curfew time

The Federal Government has announced the lifting of ban it placed on religious gatherings to help prevent the spread of Coronavirus disease.

The Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 and Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, made this known on Monday at the daily press briefing of the (PTF).

Mr Mustapha also said the ban on inter-state travels is still in effect. Also at the briefing is the national coordinator of the PTF, Sani Aliyu, who said the curfew placed nationwide has now been shifted from 8pm to 6am, it was two weeks ago to 10pm to 4am.

“Effective from tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, 2020, the easing of the lockdown will be characterised by the following: the nationwide curfew will remain in place but the timing of this will be reduced to 10pm to 4am,” Mr Sani said.

“And just to clarify, the purpose of the curfew is to limit social interactions and, therefore, reduce the risk of transmission of the virus,” he added.
