COVID-19: Buhari will address Nigerians at the appropriate time – Lai Mohammed

President Muhammadu Buhari will address Nigerians at the appropriate time on what his administration is doing to checkmate the spread of Coronavirus disease, says Lai Mohammed, the Minister of Information.

Mr Mohammed stated this on Wednesday after the Federal Executive Council meeting.

The opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the Nigerian Senate have been on the forefront asking the president to tell Nigerians what he is doing to prevent further spreading of the pandemic disease.

“When it is appropriate, Mr President will address the nation,” he told journalists at the state house.

“But, I think what you want to hear from Mr President are the kind of things we are telling you.

“This is not to preempt or second guess Mr President, I think he will do the needful,” the minister added.

Meanwhile, the presidency has said asking the president to address the nation on the steps taken by his administration to checkmate the disease amounts to playing cheap and sensational politics.
