COVID-19: 229 new cases reported in Nigeria

Two hundred and twenty nine new cases of the Coronavirus disease infections have been reported in the country by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) on Friday.

In its latest daily data published yesterday night, the disease agency said 445 patients have recovered from the deadly virus in the past 24 hours while 1 fatality occurred nationwide.

The new figure brings the total number of confirmed cases to 53,317, out of which 40,726 have been treated and discharged while the death toll increased to 1011 in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.

The 296 new cases are reported from 17 states- Plateau (85), Enugu (46), Oyo (31), Lagos (21), Rivers (20), FCT (15), Kaduna (13), Bauchi (12), Delta (11), Ekiti (11), Akwa Ibom (7), Ebonyi (6), Kwara (5), Ogun (4), Osun (4), Gombe (3) and Niger (2).
