Court reaffirms Giadom as APC acting national chairman

A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has renewed its order mandating the embattled National Secretary of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Victor Giadom,  to take over the affairs of the ruling party.

The court had in an earlier ruling in March ordered that Mr Giadom should take over the affairs of the party while suspending Adams Oshiomhole, then national chairman of the APC.

Mr Oshiomhole who kicked against the order, filed stay of execution order and appealed the judgement but lost out as the appellate court upheld his suspension, pending the determination of the suit brought to the lower court.

The next morning after his suspension was upheld, the National Secretary banking on the court order issued in March stormed the national headquarters of the party and announced himself the acting national chairman. His declaration was against the decision of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the APC which, according to the constitution of the APC, announced Senator Abiola Ajimobi as a replacement of the suspended chairman.

After that declaration by the embattled secretary of the party, the NWC under Mr Ajimobi convened and suspended Mr Giadom while appointing Hilliard Eta, to step in for the the former Oyo governor who is currently indisposed.

In an court documents marked FCT/M/6447/2020 and dated June 16, 2020, the court presided over by Justice S. U. Bature, renewed the earlier prayer of one Mustapha Salihu, who dragged Babatunde Ogala, Lanre Issa-Onilu, Waziri Bulama and the APC to the lower court.

According to the court order, Mr Giadom is to preside over the affairs of the party until the determination of the suit. He has already ordered the cancellation of the screening of the six Edo governorship aspirants, saying they will be rescreened.

Below is the court order.
