CJN summons 6 judges over conflicting court orders

The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN) Ibrahim Muhammed has summoned six state judges to appear before him over the conflicting court orders all given by courts of coordinate jurisdiction.

The chief judges summoned are those of Rivers, Kebbi, Cross River, Anambra, Jigawa, and Imo states.

“It has become expedient for me to invite you for a detailed briefing on the development,” part of the summon to the judges read. “This is even more compelling, having regard to earlier NJC warning to judicial officers on the need to be circumspect in granting ex parte applications.”

Although no date for their appearance was made known, they are to appear before the CJN before facing the National Judicial Commission (NJC) which Justice Mohammed presides over as chairman.
