The Supreme Court had dismissed an appeal filed before it by the All Progressive Congress (APC) challenging the authenticity of the academic credentials of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State.
The ruling party had its chieftain, Williams Edobor, had approached the apex court alleging the governor forged his first degree certificate submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to enable him contest the governorship election.
But dismissing the appeal, a five-member panel ruled that the appellants failed to tender sufficient evidence to back up their claims.
While awarding a fine of one million against them, the panel held that they woefully failed to substantiate their forgery allegation against the governor.
