Buhari writes Senate, seeks confirmation of Olukayode as substantive CJN

President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Nigerian Senate to confirm the nomination of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola as the substantive Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).

Mr Ariwoola, who took over from Justice Muhammad Tanko after the later resigned from his position last month over ill health amid corruption allegations, is in acting capacity.

The request is contained in a letter read at the floor of the Senate by its president, Ahmad Lawan, during plenary on Tuesday.
