Buhari speaks on whom to hand over power to

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday said he will hand over power to whoever the citizens elect as his successor.

“I will handover to whoever Nigerians elect to succeed me,” Mr Buhari said while briefly responding to questions after the Eid prayer session in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The president, who said he was looking up to joining his age mates in lazying around when his second tenure expires next year, admitted having sleepless nights over the deteriorating security situation across the country.

The National security chiefs and the Police IG are very much aware of the situation and their duties is to know where the terrorists are and eliminate them,” the Nigerian leader said. “We will continue to make the the environment secure especially now that the raining season is coming so they will go back to their farms and we wouldn’t have the issue of food security.”
