Buhari says he has done his best on insecurity, God should do the rest

President Muhammadu Buhari says his administration has done it best to tackle rising insecurity across the country entrusting the rest to God whom he hopes will answer his supplications.

“We have done our best and we will continue to do more by pursuing coherent and consistent policies to deal with terrorism,” Mr Buhari said on Friday. “I hope God will listen to our prayers.”

The Nigerian leader made the remark while receiving the head of the Tijjaniyya Islamic Movement World-Wide, Tidjani Ali Bin Arabi alongside Governor Abdullahi Ganduje of Kano and Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, leader of the Tijjaniyya Islamic Movement in Nigeria at the presidential villa, Abuja.

He also pleaded with Nigerians to be fair with his regime while accessing the ugly security challenges ranging from banditry to kidnappings, killings and terrorism.

Addressing State House Correspondents after the visit, Mr Ganduje said the Kano State Government invited the Grand Khalifa as part of efforts to develop a good socio-economic relationship between Algeria and the city of Kano.

“It is a kind of rekindling the relationship because Kano is an old civilization, with so many Ulama (Islamic scholars) from Algeria hundreds of years ago, who came to Kano to assist the development of Sharia leadership in Kano state,” he said.

“So, inviting this world leader of Tijanniyya Islamic Movement is a welcome development for the people of Kano State and for the people of Nigeria.

“We invited him and his team to pray for Nigeria for peace, stability and prosperity, and also to pray for peace and stability of Kano state,” the governor added.
