Buhari returns to Nigeria after ‘short rest’ in London

President Muhammadu Buhari has returned to the country after observing a short rest in London.

Mr Buhari, who flew out of the country late last month for medical check-up according to his spokesman, landed on Thursday evening at the presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport.

His departure was also widely criticised by the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) which described the move as an indictment of his government’s inability to provide adequate health care.

“It is indeed worrisome that under President Buhari, even the hitherto highly rated State House Clinic, has become so moribund that it cannot provide a simple medical checkup service for Mr. President,” the PDP had said in a statement.

The president who later said he was resting in the foreign country had Nigerians abroad to contend with. Critics gathered at the gate of his residence, repeatedly protesting and demanding he return home and fix the dilapidated medical facilities across the country.

The protesters withdrew days ago at the start of Ramadan, a holy month in the Muslim world.
