President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate postponement of the National Sports Festival scheduled to begin on Sunday.
The postponement of the event expected to begin in Edo state is connected to the preventive measures put in place to curb the spread of Coronavirus disease.
The Minister of Sports, Sunday Dare, made the announcement on Twitter, this morning after the third case of the pandemic was confirmed in Lagos.
“Following the briefing of Mr. President from myself and the Minister of State for Health on COVID 19, Mr. President approved the immediate postponement of Edo Sports festival to a future date,” Mr Dare tweeted.

The new Coronavirus case in the country was confirmed by the Lagos State commissioner for health, Akin Abayomi.
Mr Abayomi in series of tweets on Twitter said the new case was confirmed on a female Nigerian who returned to the country from the United Kingdom.
