President Muhammadu Buhari has knocked the international community over their reaction on the nationwide demonstrations calling for police reforms.

The peaceful protests which began three weeks ago escalated into violent confrontations by alleged pro-government thugs last week.

Earlier in the week, soldiers swooped on demonstrators in one of the protests sites in Lagos gunning down several citizens.

Since after the Lagos incident, several international governments and public figures including US opposition leader, Joe Biden, condemned the massacre.

But speaking to Nigerians Thursday evening, Mr Buhari who refused to condemn the act of the soldiers who are answerable to him, advised the Nigeria’s foreign friends to always get the facts of what is going on before reacting.

“To our neighbours in particular, and members of the international community, many of whom have expressed concern about the ongoing development in Nigeria, we thank you and urge you all to seek to know all the facts available before taking a position or rushing to judgment and making hasty pronouncements,” Buhari said in his speech.
