President Muhammadu Buhari has appointed a new Inspector General of Police, (IGP).
Mr Buhari through the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, announced Usman Alkali, as the new IGP. He is in acting capacity.
The appointment of Mr Alkali, according to the minister, takes effect immediately.
The new police chief replaces Mohammed Adamu, whose tenure elapsed in February but has continued in office on the order of Mr Buhari.
