Rebels close in on Addis Ababa as Ethiopians, envoys flee capital

Rebels are reportedly closing in on Addis Ababa, the capital of Ethiopia, the second most populous country in Africa.

This is coming a day after the central government declared a nationwide state of emergency after the Tigrayan and Oromo rebels in the Northern region pressed south toward the capital following the capture of two key towns.

Ethiopians, envoys, foreigners are reportedly fleeing from the capital as at press time, a similar scenario witnessed when Taliban rebels seized power recently in Afghanistan.
