PDP postpones Edo governorship primary

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP has postponed its Edo governorship primary to choose the candidate of the party in the coming September 19 election.

The National Publicity Secretary of the opposition party, Kola Ologbondiyan, made this known Thursday afternoon.

The primary earlier scheduled to hold tomorrow has now been shifted to Tuesday, June 23, 2020.

“@OfficialPDPNig has postponed its primary election in Edo State to Tuesday, June 23rd 2020,” Mr Ologbondiyan tweeted.

The postponement might not be unconnected to talks the party is having with Godwin Obaseki, the embattled governor of Edo State who was disqualified by the All Progressive Congress (APC) from using its platform to seek re-election.

The APC is expected to hold its primary on June 22.
