Confusion as Buhari’s chief of staff confirms robbery attack on residence

Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu has confirmed media reports that indeed there was a robbery attack on the residence of Ibrahim Gambari, the chief of staff to President Muhammadu Buhari.

Mr Shehu in a statement on his Facebook page confirmed the attack occurred early Monday morning.

“The Chief of Staff, Professor Ibrahim Gambari has confirmed that there “was a foolish attempt” to burgle his residence at 3:00am this morning but it turned out to be unsuccessful,” the president’s spokesman said. “Professor Gambari, whose house is on a street next to the Villa has assured that there is nothing to worry about from the incident.”

This comes moments after Bashir Ahmad, presidential spokesman described the report as fake news.
