BREAKING: APC factional chairman cancels Edo guber screening, orders rescreening of aspirants

Victor Gaidom, who parades himself as the authentic acting National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has ordered the cancellation of screening of Edo governorship aspirants.

Mr Gaidom gave the order on Wednesday after arriving at the National Headquarters of the ruling party.

The APC helmsman and security agencies took over the party premises, saying the court order which ousted Adams Oshiomhole, gave him the authority to pilot the affairs of the party. This is despite the National Working Committee (NWC) announcing replacement for the position.

Mr Oshiomhole who was suspended by a Federal High Court had his suspension upheld by the Appeal Court pending the determination of the suit filed at the lower court.

Under Oshiomhole, six aspirants of the party were screened but Godwin Obaseki, the embattled governor of Edo State was disqualified from participating in the party primary slated for June 22.

Mr Obaseki left the ruling party yesterday, seeking another platform to actualize his re-election bid.

In announcing the cancellation of the screening, Gaidom said aspirants who have indicated interest in contesting the governorship election in Edo State will be re-screened.

He also aspirant will be invited to reappear for screening and ordered the suspension of the National Organising Secretary, Emma Ibediro, while mandating his deputy to assume his position.
