Bayelsa Assembly Speaker Steps Down, Replacement Emerges

Monday Bubou-Obolo, the speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, has stepped down from his position.

Mr Bubou-Obolo stepped down from office because he hails from the same senatorial district as the new state governor, Duoye Diri.

The duo are from Bayelsa Central Senatorial District.

After he stepped aside, members of the assembly elected his deputy, Abraham Ngobere, as replacement.

Mr Ngobere is now the new speaker of the house.
