Bandits demand N350million ransom for abducted Zamfara college students, staff

Bandits who abducted students and staff of Zamfara State College of Agriculture and Animal Science have demanded the sum of N350million as ransom.

The operation where four security officials including a police officer and three gatemen were killed occurred Sunday night.

Habibu Mainasara, provost of the educational facility located in Bakura Local Government Area of the state, said the abductors contacted him and demanded “N350 million for the 20 people currently in their captivity.”

“They said that the money must be paid before they could release the staff and the students they kidnapped in my school,” Mr Mainasara told Punch Newspapers.

When contacted, the spokesperson the state police command, Mohammed Shehu, said the command was not aware of the amount of money demanded by the bandits and is doing all within its power to rescue the abductees.
