Ben Ayade, incumbent governor of Cross River State has been reelected for a second term in office.
Mr Ayade who ran the governorship race on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) defeated his close rival, John Enoh, candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC).
He is one among the state governors of the South South region to actualise his second term bid.
The governor secured 381,484 votes to trounce his major challenger who got 131,161 votes to come second in the guber poll.
According to Akii Ibhadode, the state returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Vice Chancellor, Federal University of Petroleum Resources, Effurun, Warri, Delta State, the governor won in all the eighteen (18) local government areas in the state.
“Ben Ayade of the PDP having scored the highest number of votes and fulfilled the requirements of the law, is returned elected,” Ibhadode declared.
