Attempt to remove minimum wage from exclusive list triggers protests Wednesday

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has announced its decision to embark on strike over moves to remove minimum wage from the exclusive list.

The workforce body had rejected recent moves by the National Assembly to remove the minimum wage from the Exclusive List to the Concurrent List.

Kicking against the plan, it vowed to begin a nationwide protests on March 10 if the decision is not rescinded.

Announcing its plan to go ahead with the industrial action, a statement from the labour union headquarters in Abuja today says the protest will begin Wednesday.

The body directed its members to demonstrate at national assembly and all house of assembly in different states.

In Abuja, the nation’s capital, mobilization, according to the statement, will start from the Unity Fountain at 7:30 am to the National Assembly complex.
