Appeal court president locks out staff over late resumption to work

Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, president of the Court of Appeal in Abuja on Thursday ordered staff be locked out for reporting to work late.

Justice Dongban-Mensem was reported to have given the directive after discovering that most staff of the court were yet to report to work when she went round the premises.

When the workers reported latter for work, security personnel on duty at the gate barred them from entering the court premises.

In protest, the staff, including directors, parked their vehicles at the entrance leading to the build-up of traffic from the gate to the main road leading to the Federal Secretariat and the Force headquarters.

As at press time, some police officers have been deployed to the rowdy scene to maintain law and order.
