Adelere Oriolowo, a federal lawmaker representing Osun West senatorial district escaped being assassinated in his locality.
Premium Times in its report said the incident occurred in Ikire while he and members of his political party were in a meeting.
The All Progressive Congress (APC) senator confirmed this in a Facebook post on his page Sunday evening.
He posted pictures of his Honda sports utility vehicle vandalised during the attack.
Mr Oriolowo while thanking God said he and his entourage vamoosed when his attackers struck and they are safe and alive.
“Just escaped an Assassination attempt on my life and that of my entourage. To God be the glory, we are safe and alive,” he said.
“God is my helper, my shelter and my fortress, I fear no evil,” the lawmaker added.
