APC Primary: Tinubu rejects consensus, says his chances of winning ticket incredibly high

Bola Tinubu, presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has rejected the consensus mode of primary in choosing the presidential candidate of the ruling party.

“I want democracy,” the former Lagos governor said in Taraba at the weekend when asked if he preferred the consensus option. “I am voting for democracy. One man, one vote.”

His rejection comes amid speculations that the APC may opt for the consensus mode of primary as it did during its national convention late March.

There are direct, indirect and consensus mode of primaries and political parties are free to choose whichever that suits them.

Direct primary involves the participation of all members of the party in choosing of candidates while indirect primary leaves party delegates to decide who should be the flag bearer.

Speaking after addressing delegates of the party in Jalingo, Mr Tinubu expressed confidence of winning the presidential primary election.

“My chances of winning the ticket are incredibly high and I am very confident. I am sure I can and I will win it,” he added.
