Anambra 2021: Police speaks on reported murder of INEC REC

The police in Anambra has described as false reports circulating online that Nwachukwu Orji, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has been killed in the state.

The report which began circulating Monday evening said the spokesman of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB), Emma Powerful, attributed the purported killing to Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State.

It added that Mr Uzodinma spearheaded the killing of the Anambra INEC REC because he refused to compromise for the rigging of the November 6 guber poll in the state.

Debunking the report on Tuesday is DSP Nkeiruka Nwode, Zonal PRO/Head of Police Media Team for the governorship election.

“The CP wants to state unequivocally that the publication is false and absolutely misleading,” the image maker of the force was quoted by Daily Post as saying in a statement. “It is a figment of imagination deliberately orchestrated by the mischief makers to cause unnecessary tension and chaos in the polity.”
