Also reject proceeds from it – Shehu Sani tells states rejecting alcoholic drinks

Shehu Sani, a former federal lawmaker, has advised Northern states against the sale of alcoholic in their domain to also reject proceeds from the liquor.

Mr gave gave the advise while reacting to a recent destruction of the alcoholic beverages in Kano State.

Hisbah, an Islamic police operating in some states in the Northern region had on Sunday under the supervision of the state governor, Umar Ganduje, demolished 1,975,000 bottles of beer worth over N200 million confiscated within Kano metropolis.

“Even in Kano we have banned the consumption of beer in all parts of the State,” the governor represented by his deputy, Nasiru Gawuna, said during the destruction exercise which held at Kalebawa, Dawakin Tofa council.

Mr Gawuna said the consumption of alcohol and all other intoxicants which can distort the mental capability of a person is forbidden in Islam.

Reacting, Mr Sani advised those against alcohol in their domain to also reject proceeds made from the beverages when they receive their federal allocations.

“Those who reject alcohol should reject all proceeds from alcohol,” the former lawmaker said in a tweet Monday evening.
