Again, Zamfara lawmakers move to impeach deputy governor

A fresh ploy to impeach Zamfara deputy governor, Mahdi Gusau, has reportedly begun.

Mr Gusau impeachment plot was first hatched in July last year, after refusing to decamp with his principal to All Progressive Congress (APC) from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

His refusal to defect was interpreted as an act of insubordination, especially by a former minister, Femi Fani-Kayode.

The deputy governor, to stop the rife plots to boot him out, secured a court injunction ordering Zamfara lawmakers to maintain status quo pending the determination of the case brought before it.

But on Friday, Blueprint Newspapers reports that the state lawmakers have began fresh moves to oust the deputy governor six months after lying low.

The approach the lawmakers intend to use in achieving that is still sketchy as at press time.
